UK Content Restrictions

From November 6, 2026, new restrictions on certain categories of pornographic content take effect in England and Wales. As a precautionary compliance measure, videos that show this content are hidden from visitors in the United Kingdom. They stay available everywhere else, and the rest of your website stays available in the UK.

Good to know: we start hiding these videos on November 2, 2026, a few days before the law takes effect on November 6, on every website. Videos marked Yes (or whose wording matches) are hidden from UK visitors from then. You can answer for your content now; until then, a blocked video's edit page says when it takes effect.

Answer the UK Content Restrictions question

  1. When you add or edit a content set, scroll to UK Content Restrictions at the bottom of the form. Read the three types of content listed: one person strangling or suffocating another, sexual activity between performers who are (or are portrayed as) related, and sexual activity where a performer is portrayed as, or pretends to be, under 16.

  2. Choose No, it shows none of these or Yes, it shows one or more of these. You have to answer before you can save. If you are unsure, select Yes: it is better to be safe.
  3. If you choose Yes, you can tick which types the video shows. This is optional. Choosing Yes hides the video from UK visitors when you save.

Answer for all your content at once

  1. Click UK Restrictions under Manage Content in the sidebar. Your content list also shows how many content sets have no answer yet, with an Answer UK Questions button.

  2. The page asks the same question as the edit form, for every content set. Not answered shows the sets still waiting for an answer; Answered and All show the rest.

  3. Choose No or Yes for as many sets as you like, then click Save answers at the bottom. Only the sets you chose an answer for are saved, so you can work through your content a page at a time (200 sets per page). If you are unsure, select Yes.
  4. If most of your sets show none of these, click Answer No for this page. It fills in No for every set on the page that has no answer yet. Switch any that do show restricted content to Yes, then click Save answers.

Answering is optional for sets that show none of these. A set with no answer stays visible to UK visitors unless its wording matches restricted content, so you only need to mark the sets that do show it as Yes. You can hide the reminder on your content list with its ×.

We are still refining the list of restricted words. If a word doesn't seem to fit your content, email support and we will review it.

Where a set's wording matches restricted content, No is greyed out and the words are listed. Change the wording on the set's edit page if a word was used innocently.

When words in your content match

Your title, description, tags and categories are checked as you type. If they contain words that match restricted content, Yes is selected for you, No is greyed out, and a message lists the words and where they were found. The video is hidden from UK visitors when you save.

Content is checked again every time it is saved, and existing content is checked daily, so videos you added before this section existed can also be hidden.

Find your blocked videos

  1. In Content, click Blocked in UK above your content list to show only the videos hidden from UK visitors.

  2. Each blocked video has a red UK tag in the corner of its thumbnail.

  3. When you edit a blocked video, a note at the top of UK Content Restrictions says it is hidden from UK visitors, why, and since when.
