Word Check

Every night we check the title, description, tags and categories of your content sets against the Content Policy word lists. Word Check shows which of your sets use a listed word, where the word is, and the sentence around it, so you can reword them.

Good to know: Word Check is in the Compliance section of your dashboard sidebar, with UK Restrictions and the Content Policy. Anyone on your team with access to content can see it; changing a set needs edit access.

Open Word Check

  1. Click Word Check under Compliance in the sidebar. Overview, just above it, shows how many sets are waiting in Word Check and in UK Restrictions. The Compliance button on your Content page opens the same overview.

Reword a set

Updated Oct 26, 2026

  1. Words to change lists the sets that use a banned word. Each set shows the word, where it was found (title, description, tags or categories) and the sentence it is in, with the word highlighted. Sets that are disabled because of a word are marked in red.

  2. Click Edit and change the words shown, then save.
  3. If the word is in a tag or category, rename the tag or category on the Tags or Categories page instead. That fixes every set that uses it at once.
  4. Back on Word Check, the set now says No longer matches the list. It leaves the list after the next nightly check. A disabled set is enabled again as soon as the new wording passes our check.

Words to check

Updated Oct 26, 2026

Words to check lists sets that use a warning word. Warning words are allowed and never disable anything, but please use a different word where you can. Context decides: "baby" as an endearment is fine, but the same word can describe something that isn't allowed. Read each set again and change any that do.

Think a word was flagged by mistake?

Updated Oct 26, 2026

A listed word isn't always a problem: what matters is how it's used. If you believe a set was flagged by mistake, email [email protected] with the set's title and our compliance team will review it. Only our team can clear a set without rewording it.
