Once Your Website is LIVE

Now What?

First, congratulations on opening your very own website! Now that you’ve gone through all of the steps and your site has passed compliance, the next step is getting it going and making you a nice monthly income. No matter what kind of site or store you have chosen to go with, here are some helpful pointers to help you make the most out of your website!

  1. Coexist with your other stores! Your new website is not really a replacement for your other stores (yet), and you will still want that income coming in. Also, those platforms have customers loyal or at least comfortable with them and most have their CC info already stored there for quick and secure purchasing. Maintaining these stores and gradually transitioning your customers to your new platform is the best way to not lose those income streams. Your brand new website needs traffic! One fantastic way to get traffic to your new site is to watermark the videos you upload to your other clip stores with your new site address. Customers will buy it and see there is a better option for getting your newest videos!
  2. Advertise and promote! The traffic your new website gets is going to come from your promoting and hard work. Watermark everything you upload with your new domain name! Trailers, gifs, promos, pictures, etc.. Put your domain name all over these things and sling them wherever you think your customers might be lurking. Tube sites, forums, art sites, etc.. Create profiles and blast it out through your social media. Tag your performers so they will retweet or promote the content to their followers. Get to know your consumer base and put up trailers in the forums or tube sites they frequent. If you would like to discuss strategies on marketing your content, I always have a few creative ideas and I am always eager to hear about yours!
  3. Be diligent with your DMCA takedowns! Even with a streaming platform the crafty pirates might still find a way to steal and upload your stuff. You invest a lot of resources into your content and the money that it generates should go to you! Stay ahead of the curve and get your stolen content pulled down whenever you can. If you start doing it from the very beginning, it will be much easier to keep up with. There are a few services out there that you can use for a monthly fee, or If you would like a free DMCA takedown form, shoot me an email and I will send you one to use.
  4. Put in the work! Owning your own business is the toughest thing you will ever do. No one will work as hard for it as you will, and your bottom line will directly reflect the effort you put forth in every single aspect. When you first started into this, you thought this would be simple. Get a camera and hire a model. Now that you’re a bit further into it, you’re a camera person, talent agent, graphic designer, IT person, customer service rep, performer, director, producer, editor.. and so on.. It’s a ton of work, but it’s all worth it when you get this off the ground and have a nice monthly income rolling in.
“There’s no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equals as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that’s that. I am not talented. I am obsessed.” -Connor McGregor
